What does it mean to live suddenly in a world where limited artificial intelligence language systems are suddenly being used?  What benefits and dangers will emerge, immediately and over time?  During this “arms race” to develop AI by the private sector and governments, what wisdom should be held up and heeded?

Jeff Barz-Snell introduces the issues, demonstrates the power and capabilities of Chat GPT and Bard using Psalm 8, and recommends that all of us review and support the “Open Letter” recently published by the Future of Life Institute.  The letter calls for a 6 month pause on the rollout of these large language model systems (LLM’s) to give us time to consider what regulations and common sense measures make sense in order to use them safely.
