Presentation of Video Interview with Isabel Wilkerson on Sunday, Nov. 14th

November 9, 2021

On Sunday, from 4:00 – 5:30 pm, join us in the Parish Hall or join us on Zoom for the first of three events in the coming months that are intended to facilitate discussion, dialogue, and critical reflection about race in America. We will view a recorded interview with Isabel Wilkerson, author of Caste, our All-Parish Read for this year. The video will be followed by a discussion with time given to analyze the arguments and claims made by the author and larger issues such as “Critical Race Theory.” We seek to ask questions and listen to different viewpoints. For example, can people acknowledge the reality of racism in our society, historically and currently, while not endorsing specific controversial reform movements such as “defund the police?” How do we contribute positively to the emergence of a 21st multi-cultural United States of America? What can a community like Weston do given the history of our country and region? What obligation do any of us have for the actions of previous generations?  These are the sorts of questions we hope to explore.
