New Exhibit – the Work of Mary Jo Rines

January 18, 2024

The  First Parish Church in Weston Art Committee announces a new exhibit in the Mary Jo Rines Gallery:

Seeing Things Anew – The Work of Mary Jo Rines

The Mary Jo Rines Gallery at First Parish was named for its founder on September 13, 2011.  It is intended to be a service to the parish, artists, and the wider community.

The Committee and the Rines family are delighted to exhibit works seen before and some newly rediscovered paintings of images captured at the artist’s summer home in Maine and during her travels in Africa, Thailand, and the American Southwest.

An influential and frequently honored artist and teacher, Mary Jo was devoted to her craft, the community of artists, and the process of “inviting others to see things in a new way.”

An opening reception will be held following church services on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 11:30 am in the Breezeway. The exhibit will run until March 31, 2024.

About the Mary Jo Rines Gallery

For over twenty years, First Parish Weston has been host to over 65 art exhibits in our Rines Gallery. The gallery was the inspiration of acclaimed artist and parishioner Mary Jo Rines and her husband Mel. A lifelong artist whose watercolors won her numerous awards, Mary Jo felt a deep relationship with nature and remained committed to the gallery’s mission of adding another dimension to the spiritual fabric of our lives “by exhibiting the work of visual artists who seek to contribute to a deeper understanding of the human condition”.
