Wallet-Friendly Wine Challenge – Join the Search Party!

  • Date: Friday, November 17, 2023
  • Time: 7:00pm9:00pm
  • Location: First Parish Church in Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA 02493

Join the search party! Our Wallet-Friendly Wine Challenge was so successful that we are hosting another round. Last year we had eight competing wines at tasting stations, complementary hors d’oeuvres, and invited donations to a local charity. It was a HUGE hit.

Contestants will bring their favorite wine for under $30 (we’ve adjusted for inflation!), all attendees will sip, enjoy, and VOTE on their favorites, and the winner will go home with a special (slightly more pricey) bottle of wine and bragging rights (the ultimate prize). We will also be having a raffle for even nicer, definitely-over-$30 bottles of wine that have been donated by the wine aficionados among First Parish’s members and friends.

A house wine (selected by Robert Jones!) and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Dress is festive casual. The minimum donation is $25 per ticket and all proceeds go to Family Promise MetroWest (see below). It’s a fun night that benefits a good cause and you won’t want to miss it. Game on to find the best bottle of wine under $30, just before the holidays.

We are requesting RSVPs so we can plan appropriately for the appetizers and house wine — we don’t want to run out!

Contestants must bring at least three (3) bottles of their favorite wine that retails (no special discounts or sales!) for $30 or less. (You must provide receipts proving how much was spent per bottle!) All those in attendance will taste the wines and vote for their favorite by written ballot.  Click here to register as a contestant.

The raffle and ticket donations will benefit Family Promise MetroWest, a local non-profit whose mission is to “transform the lives of families with children who are facing homelessness by mobilizing a diverse community to provide shelter, education, and comprehensive support.”
The Family Promise shelter program provides emergency housing, meals, and case management for families that are currently homeless; other support services include transitional support for families during their first year after exiting a shelter, emergency subsidies & coaching support to prevent families from being evicted, and educational programs and life skills training to improve employment and income potential.
By providing encouragement, guidance, and the resources to reach their goals, Family Promise MetroWest helps motivated, hard-working families move out of poverty and into stable, sustainable homes.
