First Parish Church presents P. Takis Metaxas, Professor and Chair of Computer Science at Wellesley College on Sunday, May 2, 4:00 pm, in a virtual presentation on Zoom.

His current research interests are in Web science, Web spam and information retrieval and cognitive hacking. He will address the effect of social media on society – “How the Web is changing the way we think, decide and act as individuals and members of social communities.”

Professor Metaxas studied Mathematics at the University of Athens and Computer Science at Brown. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Dartmouth, and has been a visiting scientist at MIT, the Sydney University in Australia, and at Harvard. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Brachman-Hoffman Fellowships, and Wellesley College.
