Happy June to one and all! Here are some notes about the summer schedule at First Parish.

Worship

We will NOT be hosting services on June 22nd or 29th. However, we’re happy to say that we will share worship in July as participants in the newly minted Metro West Summer Service Consortium! Throughout July and August, four local churches (Weston, Framingham, Sherborn, and Wayland) will rotate through hosting worship services. This is a fun chance to visit other churches, experience different styles of worship, and meet new friends.

First Parish will hold worship services on August 10th, 17th, and 24th featuring various guest preachers, but we will not have church school or childcare. We do not have any services on Labor Day weekend, and then our Homecoming Sunday will kick off the program year on Sunday, September 7th!

Office Hours

Staff hours and availability are very different during the summer months, and we strongly suggest you call 781-893-7798 or email staff ( Jeff, Sarah, or Betsy) before making a special trip to the church. The e-Parish Post will be sent periodically with updates and information.

Special note: the office and entire church building will be closed the week of July 14th for building maintenance; sections of our 130+ year-old building are being insulated, and no one is allowed in the building due to fumes.

Schedule for end of June:  The Church Office will be closed on Friday, June 20 and again on Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27 while Betsy Gibson takes some vacation days. The church will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday for delivery of Bristol Lodge donations.

Programs & Events

• FPCW BOOK GROUP – Our book group plans to meet on Thursday, June 19, at 9:30 am in the Library or via Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83268162066), to discuss Dear Unknown Friend, by historian Alexis Peri. Then, we will meet on July 24th for talking about The Light Eaters by Zoe Schlanger. We’ll take August off and then read “Yet Here I Am” by Jonathan Capehert in September, exact date TBD. We’ll choose the September date at our June 19th meeting. Hope you can join us for one or all of our selections.
• PRE-CONCERT SUMMERTIME SOIRÉE IN THE GARDEN – last year we hosted a lovely wine and cheese gathering before one of the Summer Concerts on the town green! We are deciding whether to host another – TBD depending on schedules. Join church members and friends for wine and cheese, then head over for the Summer Concert on the Weston Town Green, starting at 7 pm. Kids are welcome – church playground will be open. Bring some folding chairs. Park in the church lot, enjoy an outdoor garden get-together, and then walk to the Green for the concert.
• SUMMER MOVIE NIGHT! – Thursdays, JULY 31 & AUGUST 21 – GATHER AT 7:00 PM. We’ll be out under the stars on the First Parish Playground (or the air-conditioned Chapel if it rains or there’s a heat advisory) – bring comfortable seats and come enjoy snacks (or dinner) with friends; the film will start when the skies darken sufficiently (or at 7:15 PM if we’re indoors). Movie selection TBD — email Sarah or Robert with any requests/suggestions!
• BRISTOL LODGE — Our next meal for Bristol Lodge will be June 25th; a list of needs and disposable pans are in the Breezeway and Office Vestibule. Full details are in the eParish Post. Our next meal after that will be July 23rd; the menu has not yet been shared, but stay tuned. We appreciate any and all help, every month! Summer Schedule for Weekly/Monthly Programs

• COMMUNITY YOGA FLOW will not meet in July or August. Classes will resume after the church year begins in September.
• KNITTERS & STITCHERS will not meet in July. Stay tuned to our e-Parish Post for information about when we will resume meeting.
• WEEKLY MORNING MEDITATION will not meet in July. We’ll restart on Thursday, Aug. 7, at 8:30 am.
• RETIRED MEN’S LUNCH, BEREAVEMENT GROUP, AND LADIES WHO LUNCH will be on hiatus during July and August. Watch the e-Parish Post for fall dates!
