Wallet-Friendly Wine Challenge – Join the Search Party!

  • Location: First Parish Church in Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston, MA 02493

CAN YOU FIND THE BEST WINE UNDER $30?!

Join the search party! Our Wallet-Friendly Wine Challenge was so successful that we are hosting another round. Last year we had eight competing wines at tasting stations, complementary hors d’oeuvres, and invited donations to a local charity. It was a HUGE hit.

Contestants will bring their favorite wine for under $30 (we’ve adjusted for inflation!), all attendees will sip, enjoy, and VOTE on their favorites, and the winner will go home with a special (slightly more pricey) bottle of wine and bragging rights (the ultimate prize). We will also be having a raffle for even nicer, definitely-over-$30 bottles of wine that have been donated by the wine aficionados among First Parish’s members and friends.

A house wine (selected by Robert Jones!) and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Dress is festive casual. The minimum donation is $25 per ticket and all proceeds go to a local non-profit (the Weston METCO Scholarship Fund – read more below!). It’s a fun night that benefits a good cause and you won’t want to miss it. Game on to find the best bottle of wine under $30, just before the holidays.

RÉPONDEZ, S’IL VOUS PLAÎT

We are requesting RSVPs so we can plan appropriately for the appetizers and house wine — we don’t want to run out!

.
CONTEST RULES

Contestants must bring at least three (3) bottles of their favorite wine that retails (no special discounts or sales!) for $30 or less. (You must provide receipts proving how much was spent per bottle!) All those in attendance will taste the wines and vote for their favorite by written ballot.  Click here to register as a contestant.

Weston METCO Scholarship Fund

The raffle and ticket donations will benefit the Weston METCO Scholarship Fund, (https://WestonMETCO.org) which provides financial aid to inner-city students attending Weston schools under the METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) program. METCO is a voluntary, desegregation program which brings approximately 167 students (grades K-12) from Boston to Weston’s schools.
.
METCO’s mission and purpose is to “provide students with a strong academic foundation rich in cultural, educational, ethnic, socioeconomic, and racial diversity and fosters the opportunity for children from Boston and from neighboring suburbs to develop a deeper understanding of each other in an integrated public school setting.” METCO provides avenues to school diversity and helps to close the achievement gap.
