Director of Family Ministries
Bristol Huffman joined the First Parish staff as Director of Family Ministries in August 2013. Bristol is passionate about supporting a sustainable family ministry program at First Parish through creative worship, religious education, loving community, and effective service. She wants people of all ages to experience church as a place where they know they are loved by God and by their congregational family.
Prior to serving as the Director of Family Ministries, Bristol held various educational and non-profit roles. She has been a canoe guide, a teacher of environmental science and civic engagement, and a nonprofit development associate. She completed an Americorps term of service as a “recess coach,” creating positive school climate and teaching kids through play in urban schools. She spent a wonderful year as the Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Arlington.
Bristol graduated summa cum laude from Loyola University Chicago in 2006 with a B.A. in Theology and a minor in History. In 2010, she received an M.A. in Ethics & Social Theory from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. She is a Spiritual Director, worship leader, and retreat facilitator at Bethany House of Prayer in Arlington, and she recently completed the Foundations in Christian Leadership program through Leadership Education at Duke Divinity School.
Bristol loves to be outside and spends a lot of time hiking, running, and cycling. She enjoys curling up with a good book, especially if it includes dragons, and making music, especially if it includes a piano.
